Friday 22 February 2002 5pm - Transport for invited guests departs for Danger Point from the Tolbos Restaurant, Main Road Gansbaai for viewing the 437 individually dedicated wreaths to be layed en masse at sea during the Saturday ceremony. The wreaths were made by the local school children using natural materials. 7pm - Light supper at the Birkenhead Boat Club in the Gansbaai harbour. Dress is casual and there will be a nominal charge for supper. Drinks will be available from a cash bar. For catering purposes bookings are essential and should be made through the Gansbaai Tourism office before 15 February 2002.
Saturday 23 February 2002 8am - Transport for invited guests leaves for Danger Point from the Tolbos Restaurant, Main Road, Gansbaai. 8.30 - 9am - Light refreshments at Danger Point for invited guests 9am - Welcome, opening and start of triathlon 9.05am - Mass wreath laying at sea by a flotilla of small craft over the infamous Birkenhead Rock
10.30am - Transport for invited guests leaves for Stanford's Cove 11.30am - Stanford's Cove - Welome by Elim Brass Band 12 noon - Start of Tableau re-enacting the survivors making land and being assisted by the local community as it happened a century and a half ago. 1pm - Lunch for Invited Guests Dress : Smart casual with medals or ribbons for regimental representatives. Sunday 24 February 2002 10.15am - Viewing of photographic display at North Front 10.30am - Wreath laying ceremony followed by a church service lead by The Rev Dick Whittington MBE and by The Rev Paul Abram, Chaplain to HM Tower of London

Tuesday 26 February 2002 10am - Rededication of Birkenhead Monument 10.15am - Memorial service and laying of wreaths by regimental representatives, civic dignitaries, relatives and others. Dress : Smart Casual with medals or ribbons for regimental representatives. Full uniform for those in service. EVERYBODY IS WELCOME TO JOIN THE OVERBERG COMMUNITY AND THEIR INVITED GUESTS IN HONOURING THOSE WHO PERISHED IN THE DISASTER.
